Chinese Chengdu Art Troupe “Although We are Far Apart, We Share the Same Time - Whispers from the East” Performance in Bahrain

The Chengdu Art Troupe of China successfully held a special performance titled “Although We are Far Apart, We Share the Same Time - Whispers from the East” at the Bahrain National Theatre on September 20, at the invitation of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

H.E. Ni Chichi, Chinese Ambassador in Bahrain, Ms. Farah Mohammed Mattar, Director General of Culture and Museums at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and diplomatic envoys in Bahrain from multiple countries attended the event, which attracted over a thousand attendees, including local residents and members of the Chinese community.

The evening opened with the elegant Sichuan-style dance “Happy Rain on a Spring Night”, setting a poetic tone for the night. Audiences were then treated to a rich lineup of performances, including contemporary folk music pieces “A Moonlit Night on the Spring River” and “New Ambush on All Sides with Changquan”, the acrobatic act “Bronze Secrets”, the dances “Chinese Monal” and “Home of Giant Pandas”, the Sichuan Opera “Face Changing”, a martial arts “ Dao Techniques”, and the traditional balancing act “Drum Kicking”. Interactive showcases of intangible cultural heritage such as sugar painting, dough figurines, paper-cutting, and rope weaving were also featured, offering a vivid display of the depth of Chinese culture and the unique charm of Sichuan traditions.

The performance was met with enthusiastic applause and frequent cheers from the audience. After the show, many attendees expressed their admiration for the high artistic quality and cultural richness of the performance.
